Almost directly below Casa Angelina, La Gavitella is one of Amalfi's best beaches, providing places to swim and sunbathe, as well as explore by canoe and take boat trips. Unusually for Amalfi, the beach faces west, and is one of the few that gets the sun until late in the evening. The charming La Gavitella Restaurant & Bar (www.lagavitella.it) provides a welcome watering-hole for thirsty sunbathers, as well as offering local specialities such as Totani Alla Praianese, a dish of squid with potatoes, and their justifiably renowned Sorbetto al Limone di Praiano (a lemon sorbet made with lemons and citrus fruit from Praiano).
